River Parrett - Still fishing its head off !!!Tuesday 7th February.
Fran and I fished pegs 39 & 40, respectively, just below Bow bridge. The river was down a bit, still dropping, and there was a reasonable flow. This flow varied, during the day, due to Westover Pumping station periodically pumping out the rhynne.
Fran loosefed hemp and caster over groundbait and alternated a whip with a rod and stick float to take nearly 6½ Kg of roach, skimmers and chublets.
I loosefed hemp and maggot and fished a stick float and centrepin to take just over 3 Kg of roach, skimmers, perch, and ruffe.

Tuesday 14th February
Although the weather has warmed up, for a while this week, the cold upstream wind didn't help today. The water level was well down, we could only get the last few rings of our keepnets in the water.
Fran and I were fishing Stuckies again. This time I was on peg 39 and Fran on peg 40.
We both fished with maggot over groundbait and loosefeeding hemp, caster or maggot.
I fished a rod and centrepin with a 2 gram pole float instead of my usual stick float. With a long thin antenna, the pole float showed bites much better. Fran fished a 7 metre whip.
We both caught roach, skimmers and the odd ruffe.
I finished up with almost 4 Kg and Fran finished up with over 6½ Kg.
Combe Lake
With the current cold weather, the lake is obviously frozen solid. This will certainly keep the cormorants out!!
